Valentines Day at The Bistro

Valentines Day at The Bistro

Yes... it's that time already. That time when you buy into the whole tradition of buying a card and some flowers ... and maybe even book a nice romantic meal for two : )
Who was St Valentine though?

St Valentine, according to popular belief, was a priest from Rome in the 3rd century (A.D). Claudius the 2nd banned marriage because he thought married men were poor soldiers. Valentine disagreed... and arranged marriages in secret. Such a romantic!

When Claudius, The Emperor, found out, Valentine was thrown in jail and sentenced to death.
While in jail (the true romanticist that he was), fell in love with the jailer's daughter. You couldn't make this stuff up...  He was taken to be killed on  (wait for it) ... The 14th of  February and he sent her a love letter signed "from your Valentine".

Anyway. Time to pick up the phone and book your Table for Two at The Bistro.
